Forest Admin Release Notes: January 2024
Curious about our latest product releases? Here is what we launched in January 2024 🥳 and what we are going to launch soon 🤫
We have many updates for you to explore this month. First, if you were wondering about the AI in Forest Admin, you will get an answer. Then, discover all the new features and improvements: polymorphic associations, widget and workspace enhancements, and advanced search options, and make use of plugins and new data sources. Finally, get a sneak peek of what's coming soon. Let's dive in 👇
🚀 How to speed up your daily operations thanks to AI
Did you know that AI has been a part of Forest Admin since the beginning of the trend? We never advertised it as a new feature, but plenty of FA users have developed AI-powered custom actions to manage various operations. Here are just a few examples:
- Data entry and extraction using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to verify the data automatically detected from uploaded documents instead of adding and saving them manually. No more mistyped foreign names and other errors.
- Data enrichment with automated data tagging, lead scoring, NPS, sentiment analysis for better understanding of users' needs and their interactions with the product.
- Data computation - using AI to process dynamic data and get valuable insights for the operations.
We showcased Forest Admin's AI-powered features at the event How AI Powers Exceptional Customer Operations in early January at the Hexa office in Paris. Our presentation followed a valuable panel discussion involving experts from Gladia, Fragment, and Slite, who talked about building AI-powered products and the significance of human involvement in the process.
✨ New features and improvements
Polymorphic associations are now available on Forest Admin for Ruby on Rails
If your admin panel is based on Ruby on Rails, we have good news for you. It's now possible to create, update and navigate through your polymorphic associations. You just need to upgrade your Rails agent to v9 if you haven't done so already.
Access data more efficiently thanks to Advanced Search Syntax
It's hard to imagine customer operations without search. To make it easier for you, we’ve just introduced advanced search syntax so that you can more quickly find what you are looking for. For now, it is only available on Forest Admin Cloud and on the Node.js agent starting from version 1.36.18. Read more about advanced search syntax.
Improvements to widgets
Do you remember when last year in the newsletter we talked quite a lot about widgets on Forest Admin? We've recently released small but useful improvements:
- Adding decimal configuration to the number input widget.
- Revamped rich text editor and currency input widgets.
Duplicate Workspace Components
Building workspaces on Forest Admin has just become faster. Now you can duplicate (or copy/paste) all components, including containers with collections, charts, buttons and other elements. You can also do it from one workspace to another! Read more about workspaces.
Build your own plugins and datasources and connect them to Forest Admin
Your business is unique, just like the needs of your team. Thanks to Forest Admin, the sky is the limit when customizing your admin panel. You can take advantage of plugins to upload files to Amazon S3 from your admin panel, flatten your data model if you are using a NoSQL database with nested documents, or implement custom data exports in various formats. You can also easily build your own plugins! Read how.
Forest Admin Experimental also allows you to load data from more data sources, including third party SaaS tools. Read how to upload data from Hubspot, ElasticSearch and how to build your own data source and plug it to Forest Admin.
Contact us if you have any questions about plugins and Forest Admin Experimental.
